Potatoes are an abundant, low-cost, and nutritious food. Washington state’s potato growers produce an average of 10 billion pounds of potatoes every year, making them second only to Idaho in total annual production in the
United States. 

In 2020, Washington state’s potato growers harvested 154,500 acres worth of potatoes, creating 83,917 servings of potatoes each for all 7.6 million people in the state. Enough potatoes for everyone in Washington state to eat one potato once a day every day for 229 days.
